CLASSES are held once a week, for 40 minutes, and are limited to 12 children (plus their parents or caregivers, if the age group warrants). Children are grouped within their birth year (like they are in school), and “graduate” to the next level each September. The material is structured around the participants, and no two terms are ever alike!
The 10 week Spring term runs:
Tue: April 3 – June 12 (x May 15)
Wed: April 4 – June 13 (x May 16)
Fri: April 6 – June 15 (x May 18)
Sat: April 7 – June 16 (x May 19)
Mon: April 9 – June 18 (x May 21)
There will be no classes May 15-21. In the event of an unscheduled cancelled class, it will be made up at the end of the term (June 19 – 25). Missed classes can be made up within the term, if there is room in an appropriate age group, and by prior arrangement.

“FIRST ADVENTURES IN DANCE” ~ for children born in ’14 & ’15
What better way for children to experience music than through movement? Scarves, balloons, streamers, instruments, puppets, and more, will have them exercising their imagination, as well as their bodies, to a wide variety of music, while learning the first elements of dance. Grownups get to stay & dance, too! (No charge for accompanying younger siblings if safely strapped into car seats or baby carriers).
Fri: 10:10 at Fitness Works
“MUSIC MAKERS” ~ born in ‘14
Focus is on playfully discovering rhythms, exploring pitch & dynamics, and developing beat & vocal skills, through songs, rhymes, puppets, stories, and creative movement. “Orff” instruments (and many others) will be introduced. (Grownups stay, too!)

Fri: 9:20 at Fitness Works
“RHYTHMATICS” ~ JK/SK
We’ll have fun with beat, pitch, rhythm & dynamics while playing singing games, creating sound effects for stories and poems, and improvising with xylophones, drums, and many other multi-cultural percussion instruments. Musical literacy will be introduced. (*This is a “drop off” program).

Sat: 12:30 at Kew Park Montessori Day School
“KODORFF” ~ Grades 1 – 3
“Kodaly” & “Orff” teaching methods are combined with a dash of “Dalcroze”, so learning is vibrant and active. We’ll play clapping and singing games, then transfer those rhythms to almost anything that can be struck, shaken, or rubbed to make sound! We’ll create soundscapes for stories & poems, and begin to learn the basics of reading & writing music.
